FireTorrent is an add-on for the Firefox browser that empowers it to download BitTorrents. Using this add-on, you will be able to launch torrent downloads directly from your Firefox: if you click on a link to download a file, your system will no longer launch your associated torrent client. It will, instead, launch this add-on, and the downloading job will be handled like all the regular downloads in Firefox. The only visual difference is that the progress bar will show vertical red and white stripes when downloading a torrent, instead of the usual green color.
FireTorrent offers download speeds similar to the ones offered by standalone clients. To access the configurable options of this add-on, you will need to open the Add-Ons option under the "Tools" menu. You can set the port that the program will use, the download and upload rates, how many concurrent downloads you will authorize the program to perform, whether you want the program to delete the temporary files, specify details about encryption, the download path and the proxy settings, should you need to use a proxy server.
